Meet the Moras
Q&A with our Board President, Leah, and Adam Mora!

Q: What was the first Dallas Children’s Theater show you ever saw?
A: If You Give A Mouse a Cookie
Q: And do you remember what you thought?
A: That this was a gem of a theater I was so happy to discover and couldn't wait to bring my kids back for more shows. So charming!
Q: What made you say “YES!” when you were first asked to get involved with DCT?
A: I was familiar with and enjoyed the production value, show offerings, education classes for my kids so it was a no brainer and completely natural for me to endorse DCT's immense value in the arts community locally and nationally.
Q: If you could magically transport yourself back to one DCT production you’ve seen, which one would you revisit—and why?
A: Teen Scene: Ghouls & Graveyards to experience Artie's gifted direction and our eldest Laurel's rendition of La Llorona.
Q: You’ve experienced DCT from the front row, the boardroom, and behind the scenes. What’s one DCT moment you’ll never forget?
A: Hosting a reception onstage for the opening of A Charlie Brown Christmas that Doug Miller directed and hearing him speak of the incredible attention to detail and thought that went into the decisions for the production: live musical ensemble onstage, projections created from the original, etc. It was a special treat.
Q: Who is more likely to laugh out loud during a DCT performance? (And who is more likely to get a little misty-eyed?)
A: Leah is much more likely to laugh out loud and Adam to get a little misty-eyed.

Q: What is your favorite thing about experiencing theater together?
A: The special memories that are created as we experience the living and breathing art in real time that is a theatrical performance. No two performances will ever be exactly the same and there is magic in that kind of artistic creation.
Q: What’s one thing about DCT that you think people might not realize?
A: DCT plants seeds in children which later blossom when they need confidence, a robust healthy self-esteem, and a sense of self that allows them to be their authentic selves.
Q: During your time as Board Chairs, what accomplishment made you especially proud?
A: Having the courage to commit to equity, diversity and social justice pieces and projects throughout our time on the Board.
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to a family attending DCT for the first time, what would it be?
A: Be prepared to be enchanted by the charm, quality and sheer joy of the performance onstage.
Q: "Theater matters to children because..."
A: It provides a glimpse of imagined worlds that they too can be a part of and reflects unimagined possibilities alike.
Q: What has serving as Board Chairs taught you about leadership, philanthropy, or the power of saying “yes”?
A: That we are stronger together and can accomplish wonderous things if we dare to dream boldly.
Q: Finish this sentence: “Theater matters to children because…”
A: It safely allows them to unleash their imagination and immerse themselves in possibilities.
