60,000 school age children from public and private schools attend DCT's Student Matinee Performance Series (SMPS) every academic year.

SMPS FACTS

  • SMPS casts of professional actors and production values are identical to those enjoyed by main stage family audiences
  • SMPS students pay only $7.50 per person (regular tickets cost $14 to $24)
  • DCT invests $1,128,105 this season to present 199 weekday student matinees
  • Ticket revenue of $344,000 covers only 30% of SMPS costs. Donations from corporations, foundations and individuals are needed to continue providing this popular and effective educational outreach.
  • Schools from every single ZIP code in the city of Dallas proper attend SMPS at DCT.
  • Study guides for each SMPS production are on-line for teachers to download. Activities tie the cultural experience of SMPS to core curriculum and stat-mandated educational objectives (TEKS.)
