• All classes are taught by DCT Theater Professionals.
• Classes are held at the Rosewood Center for Family Arts.

    • Download brochure and complete enrollment form. Be sure to list the classes and the
        days that you want.
    • A non-refundable Deposit is required for each class for which you are registering.
    • Include a credit card number or check for the Deposits.
    • Mail as soon as possible, classes fill quickly!
    • The registration form may be copied.

Classes designed for Students Ages 3½-5 or 4-5 years; Pre-K
Act! Draw! Move! Create! Discover! Explore!
Work with DCT Professional Theater Artists who know how to bring the world of stories and drama to life for the youngest actors! See how the power and wonder of drama can make a difference in the creative growth of every child!
All classes will have an Open House Show on the last day of the Spring Session!


Creation Station - $200

Join our popular creative dramatics adventure for the youngest thespian. Each week is a new adventure in dramatic play and creativity. Move to the beat of fun music and take on characters like animals and fairy tale friends. Students will act out such classic stories as: The Three Little Pigs, Caps for Sale, The Hungry Caterpillar and many, many more. Family and Friends are invited to an Open House of Fun on the last day of class.

Story Drama - $200

Pre-K ages 4-5 years (must have turned 4 before Fall 2008)

Be Creative, Be a Character, Be Onstage! Let’s get ready to create a brand new play! Your class will use ideas from stories and fairy tales to come up with a great show. Be your favorite character: A Hero, A Fairy Princess, or A Pirate-You Choose! Work on your show each week, then pick a Costume for Dress Rehearsal. Invite Family and Friends to your Spectacular Show



Drama Level 1    $200 $50 Deposit, $150 Tuition
Make a Play Classes designed for Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade
In Level 1 classes a Professional Theater Artist guides student actors to choose a character.
Class themes are suggestions for story lines, and students can choose to be any character in their class.
The DCT Artist will make sure everyone’s character works into the show!
•  Each week the class will create scenes and rehearse their parts.
•  DCT Artists lead students in theater games to enhance creativity and team work.
•  Young Actors go onstage and learn about back stage rules.
•  Actors choose a costume for the show.
•  Do a play on the last day of class.


Fantastic Friends - $200

Be your favorite character on the DCT stage as you create a one of a kind show!

Mermaids & Pirates - $200

Ready for an Undersea Adventure?  Let’s walk the plank and do a show!
Be a Mermaid, a Pirate, or a Shark (or a Swimming Dog) -You choose!


Heroes & Fairy Tales - $200

Wednesday 4:30-6:00 p.m. January 28 - April 15, 2009  SOLD OUT!
Saturday 10:00-11:30 a.m. January 31 - April 25, 2009 (no class April 11)
Do you love Superheroes- Be one!  Or you can be the bad guy-that’s fun too!
Or you can be a Fairy Tale Character: Cinderella, Peter Pan, or The Little Mermaid in your show!



Drama Level 2    $200 $50 Deposit, $150 Tuition
Make a Play Classes for students Grades  2 & 3
Professional Theater Artists lead Drama Level 2 classes in a continuation of the Make a Play format.
The emphasis is on Unique Characterizations for the Stage.
•  Actors do Warm-Ups and Theater Games to learn to Create a Character.
•  Plays at this level have more plot points and dramatic elements than Level 1 classes.
•  Each week scenes are added and rehearsed.
•  Student Actors will present their original plays for family and friends on the last day.


Read It! Be It! - $200

Tuesday 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. January 27 - April 14, 2009
Be a character from your favorite story: Harry Potter, Junie B. Jones or Hank the Cowdog! Look to the pages of literature for your show!


Acting 101 - $200

Wednesday 4:30-6:00 p.m. January 28 - April 15, 2009
Student actors choose to be any character - the field is open.
Work on the plot, the place, the problem for your show!


Take a Bow! - $200

Saturday 10:00-11:30 a.m. January 31 - April 25 (no class April 11)
Work on your acting skills to develop and perform your own unique character!
It’s time for the show- who’s the star- You!!!



Intermediate Drama $200 $50 Deposit, $150 Tuition
Grades 4-6
Classes at this level offer options: Create a Play with Advanced Characterizations;
Learn Lines and Blocking with Pre-scripted materials; or Create and Star in an Original Movie!
Professional DCT Theater Artists work with students to improve acting techniques or
explore the world of video in more specialized classes.
On the last class day Family and Friends see the show or watch the movie!


Makin’ Movies - $200

Wednesday 4:30-6:00 p.m. January 28 - April 15, 2009 SOLD OUT!
Work with DCT’s own Karl Schaeffer to Create a Movie Masterpiece!
Each student will choose their character, get scripted  lines, act in the Movie and help run the Video Equipment! Students receive a copy of the final Screenplay and Movie!


Scenes - $200

Thursday 4:30-6:00 p.m. January 29 - April 16, 2009
Each student will be a character from the DCT Stage! Students learn their lines, blocking and reasons why! Rehearse and present your scene with your class on the final day.


Acting for the Stage - $200

Friday 4:30-6:00 p.m. January 30 - April 24, 2009 (no class April 10) SOLD OUT!
Students Choose a Character and make it their own: How they walk, how they talk!
A DCT Professional leads the class to create an original plot with these unique characters. Students memorize their lines and rehearse the show to present on the last class day.


Saturday Morning Improv- $200

Saturday 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.  January 31 - April 25, 2009 (no class April 11)
A great introduction to using Improv Techniques to create a character and situations. Work with Theater Artists and explore fun and creative Improv Activities and get ready to present an Original Show.



Teen Conservatory:  Advanced Training for Young Adults
Students in grades 7 and up work with professional actors, directors and
teachers to improve and enhance their acting skills Actors will be informed of
opportunities to audition for DCT shows.


Acting Techniques - $200 Grades 7+

Thursday 4:30-6:00 p.m. January 29 - April 16, 2009
• Are you ready to learn what it takes to get the part? Then this is the class for you!
• Work with theater professionals to polish your skills.
• Improve your diction and vocal techniques!
• Work on scenes and monologues from the world’s best plays - Classic and Contemporary.
• Develop a character through intense work and study.
• Showcase your work for Family and Friends on the last class day!


Improv I & II - $200 Grades 7+

Wednesday 4:30-6:00 p.m.
January 28 - April 15, 2009
• Are you up for the challenge of Improv?
• Do you like to think on your feet?
• Do you want to improvise in front of a live studio audience?
• Then this is the high energy class for you!
• Professional actors, directors and Improv artists help sharpen your Improv techniques!
• Get ready for an audience of Family and Friends on the last class day!
*Improv I is a prerequisite for Improv II.Students will be placed at teacher’s discretion.

Audition and Monologues - $200 Grades 7+

Saturday 10:00-11:30 a.m. January 31 - April 25, 2009 (no class April 11)
• Work with a Professional - Learn what a Director looks for in an Audition.
• Work on a monologue that you can use for any audition - get into the character
and the text of the script.
• Learn the tricks of the trade. Do your best at your next audition - at school, church
or local theater.
• Get feedback from a Pro and make improvements on your Auditioning Skills!
